Transport Policy Strategy for Net Zero Pollution

The transport sector is one of the most vulnerable sectors that directly and indirectly affect environmental, social, and human health. Reshaping the transport sector is mandatory to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across the globe. However, the increasing number of vehicles will contribute to more pollution, and traffic will consume more time and energy.

Objective

Electrification is one option for transportation. However, reshaping transport infrastructure according to population and environmental needs varies across different regions.

Public Transport

Public transport is less expensive and more productive for people, with lower energy consumption and reduced pollution. However, in most cities around the world, people do not choose public transport due to quality issues. Public buses, trains, or other vehicles are often not sufficiently maintained and tend to be crowded. Moreover, low-income individuals mostly opt for public transport due to economic constraints. Over half of public transport drivers are uneducated and not well-informed about social changes.

Reshaping Public Transport

Most travelers use public transport for local travel, such as commuting to work, shopping, and more. To reshape public transport, the following strategies can be implemented:

1. Conduct Surveys: Engage with local travelers to understand their needs and preferences. Reallocate resources to reduce unnecessary travel and improve the efficiency of public transport.

2.Incentivize Public Vehicle Manufacturing: Encourage car manufacturers to stop producing private vehicles and shift their focus to manufacturing public vehicles.

Freight Transport

In today's advanced e-commerce world, a significant number of people shop through online stores. The increasing number of customers will drive the demand for online shopping and services.

Reshaping Freight Transport

To reshape freight transport, the following strategy can be implemented:

1. Electric Rope Cars: Connect every household using electric rope cars that transfer materials and products from point to point.

2.Utilize Street Lamp Stands: Transform street lamp stands into rope car services to transfer materials and products for all online product delivery services.

Private Transport

To reshape private transport, the following strategy can be implemented:

1. Introduce Flying Taxis: Focus on introducing flying taxis in semi-urban areas, which are less congested with road vehicles compared to urban areas.

Conclusion

The transition to net zero pollution in the transport sector requires innovative and region-specific strategies. By reshaping public, freight, and private transport, we can move towards a sustainable and environmentally-friendly future. The adoption of new technologies and infrastructure improvements will play a crucial role in achieving these goals.
